Jeanette M Hine MFHT, Mobile Sports Massage Therapist at Revitalise Therapy, CheshireWhat is involved in the consultation?

For first time clients, a full consultation is carried out.  This includes taking some medical history to ensure the massage is a suitable therapy for you and to ensure that the best treatment is provided to suit your needs.  All information given is strictly confidential.

Range of movement checks and postural analysis may also be carried out.

How long will the initial consultation take?

For a first-time client, a one-hour appointment is recommended due to the full consultation that is needed prior to the treatment to establish the best treatment to suit your needs.

What do I need to wear?

Comfortable clothing!  A t-shirt/vest-top and shorts/leggings.

Shorts are recommended for leg massages.

Will Sports Massage Therapy hurt?

The massage therapist will talk to you about pressure throughout your treatment and respect your preferences.  You should not feel pain during your massage so it is important to communicate to the therapist should you experience discomfort.

What does the therapist do to protect my modesty during treatment?

Towels are used to cover the client to protect your dignity.  Wearing suitable clothing also helps such as shorts.

What types of oils/lotion will be used?

The oils used are grapeseed oil or NAQI sports massage lotion which is an oil/water emulsion and is hypoallergenic.  It is important to stress to the therapist if you think you have any relevant allergies prior to the treatment with regards to the products being used. Please contact us if you have any further queries regarding this.

What if I am feeling unwell on the day of my massage?

Massage may exacerbate the symptoms of common illness such as cold/flu.  For health and hygiene reasons if you’re suffering from sickness or other illness, it is recommended you contact us to re-book your massage for a time when you are feeling well again.

How will I feel after my massage?

You may experience some soreness in the area where treatment has been applied for up to 48 hours, after which time you should feel the benefits. Written after care advice is provided at the end of the treatment.
